NROC Community Gathering 2017

What a party!!!

It was the largest NROC Community Gathering yet, and it was a blast!!!

We were thrilled to have Dave Hartnett, City Councilor for the North District of Burlington, and Kurt Wright, Vermont State Representative, there to experience the fantastic NORTHGATE COMMUNITY!

The focus was on community spirit and volunteerism. Three of our own Northgate youth were awarded Good Citizenship awards (and cash!).

JR Marquez was honored for his community spirit with the Anne Marie Dennis Community Service Award. This award goes to one person each year to exemplify community service as Anne Marie Dennis did as one of the pioneers that helped to save Northgate in the mid 1980’s.

Margaret “Peggy” Richards was honored for her amazing community spirit. The bench in her courtyard will be dedicated to Peggy, for her work in keeping her courtyard beautiful. Those who enjoy this bench will know that the beauty they enjoy is enhanced by Peggy’s community spirit.

The Chattering Hens and Family were also honored for their acts of kindness. They knit hats for distribution in our food pantry this past winter and have donated a huge amount of jewelry making supplies. Leean will use these supplies to work with both youth and adults at Northgate. Check out the resident events on Thursday nights in your monthly newsletter.

Twenty-six more Northgate residents were recognized for their volunteer work in the community. Check out the complete list in your May Newsletter

The food from Rick’s Catering was as good as ever. Roasted vegetables, beef kabobs, shrimp and cocktail sauce, mac and cheese, chicken skewers, chicken wings, tortilla chips and layered dip, veggie kabobs. Don’t forget the desserts from My Little Cupcake, they even had gluten-free cupcakes!
