Natural Gas Conservation and YOU

Northgate resident's play an important role in energy conservation. It reduces costs, saving dollars, and it reduces our carbon footprint, saving the environment! It is estimated that by 2032, 80 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day will be needed to power more than 400 million homes. Here are some tips to help Northgate run efficiently:

  • Remove window air conditioning units during colder months.
  • Keep windows and doors closed in the winter. If your apartment is hot, please contact the management office.
  • Check to be certain that all basement windows are securely closed.
  • Open shades and drapes during the day to let warm sunlight in, and close them at night to keep in the warmth!
  • Keep baseboard heaters clear of furniture and curtains so that air can circulate.
  • Vacuum baseboard heaters regularly to promote air flow. 

Heat convection makes heat rise and flow across the top of the room, cooling as it returns to baseboard heater.
